ILP arranges for volunteers to have several holidays when they can travel. ILP volunteers experience a foreign culture by contributing to it rather than by observing and touring. Longer excursions can be arranged during time off each weekend and vacations on local holidays. Once you arrive, Head Teachers and Native Coordinators will help your team with travel arrangements such as how to buy tickets, where to stay, places to see, etc. There are also several great travel guides available. Costs for travel during vacations are paid for by the volunteer. (More details in Program Costs).  ILP safety guidelines must be followed during travel.

Approved Vacation Destinations:

Russia Volunteers – Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and Sweden.

Ukraine Volunteers – Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Romania.

China Volunteers – No travel outside of mainland China or to Special Administrative Regions (SARs) is permitted. (Except as noted below.)

Mexico Volunteers – No travel outside of Mexico or border towns. There is plenty of amazing travel within Mexico!

Upon completion of the program the volunteer may plan travel beyond the list of approved destinations with approval from the ILP office.
