Communication
Internet and E-mail
Inexpensive or free e-mail and internet access is available in every city where ILP teachers teach. You can keep in touch with all your friends and family while you are away if you can find the time to write them! Reliability is not the same as in the U.S. but is definitely adequate to communicate with family and friends.
Mail and Packages
Mail is delivered to every city where ILP volunteers teach, and generally letters take 1-2 weeks to be delivered. International delivery services offer express mail to every ILP location. As with any postal system, it is not advisable to send valuables via mail services.
Emergency Communication
Emergency communication procedures are outlined in the Volunteer Handbook which you receive after receiving your teaching assignment. Most volunteers have phones in their apartments, and all head teachers can be reached by phone. In addition, ILP staff have emergency phone lines that are for use 24-hours each day in emergency situations.
