Internet

Chinaaliceandscott

All volunteers in China have regular internet access.  If you don’ t have an email account accessible from the web, we suggest you set one up through hotmail or yahoo.  Your friends and family should send emails to your personal email address.

Russia and Ukraine

In Russia or Ukraine, volunteers may use the computer at their head teacher’s apartment to access the internet, or they may go to one of the many internet cafes in their city.

Thailand

In Thailand you have wireless internet access at the apartment and the school. Many teachers bring a laptop with them so they can access the internet for email and to call home using Skype when it is convenient for them. There are computers to use at the school for teachers who do not bring a laptop.

Mexico

In Mexico, you can use the Internet at the school. You can also buy calling cards in Mexico to call home.

Phone

Below is a link to OneSuite.com, a very affordable way for your friends and family to call you while you’re away.  Once you arrive, email your family with your phone number.  In China you will have ready access to a phone. In Russia and Ukraine, phone access varies depending on your host family. Your head teacher’s apartment does have a phone for you to make important calls.
